Sculptures

2019-present

This series explores the complexity of self-representation, reclaiming lost histories across the African Diaspora and the freedom to represent ourselves as full, or as flat, as we please.

Each piece sets to embody the psychological impact of our capture, displacement into modern museum collections all over the world and eventual decontextualisation.

In all my work, I utilize art historical references and personal encounters into paintings, drawings and sculptures that display the prism of assigned roles, human psyche and experiences of a woman in the African Diaspora.
